ABOUT THE ACCELERATOR
Breakthrough’s Accelerator is a year-long bootcamp for groups and individuals who have huge potential and want to get serious about making change. This intensive programme turns budding campaigns into forces to be reckoned with.
Picture this: one day the government announces a new law that’s going to change your life for the worse. Or something happens to you or your community and you know it’s not right. You want to do something about it. You don’t know where to start but you form a WhatsApp group of people who are also affected. You write to your MP who sends you a standard response that goes nowhere. What next? What do you do?
That’s where the Accelerator comes in. When you’re on the programme, you’ll get access to our team’s unrivalled professional campaigning experience. We’re ready to equip you with the strategy, networks, and tools you need to make change.
Starting in September and finishing up in July, our Accelerator programme brings together top-level advice with ongoing practical support. We have a unique approach: we’ll start by listening to you to understand your hopes, goals and needs, and then we’ll co-create a campaign plan that will help you win change.
WHAT YOU’LL GET ON THE PROGRAMME:
- In-depth strategy workshops where we’ll work with you to develop a campaign plan
- Five in-person sessions alongside the other campaigners on the Accelerator – including three campaign masterclasses from world-leading experts
- Five online video calls with the other campaigners on the Accelerator – where you’ll get peer-to-peer support, share tips, and troubleshoot together
- Access to a dedicated and experienced member of the Breakthrough team for fortnightly check-ins, a WhatsApp channel for quick questions and discussion, and ongoing support
- Digital tools to grow national interest in your campaign, grow your social media audience and recruit new supporters
- Media coaching to help you tell your story and introductions to journalists to get your campaign in the news
- Support understanding Parliament and how to get MPs to champion your campaign
This is far more than a training programme: it’s about giving you the deep, personalised support you need to take your campaign to the next level.
No matter how developed your campaign is – whether you’ve just got the idea or you’re already backed by thousands of people – we want to hear from people with direct experience of injustice who want to make transformative social change.
