Nanny Solidarity Network

The campaign for better pay and condition for childcare workers

The Nanny Solidarity Network is a grassroots worker and migrant-led organisation based in London that supports nannies and au pairs. Founded out of a mutual aid network set up during the pandemic for childcare workers that were struggling, the Nanny Solidarity Network has led the way in exposing the precarity of nannies and au pairs on childcare apps like Bubble and Koru Kids.

In addition to their campaign work, the Nanny Solidarity Network has also established the first union for childcare workers in the UK.

From fighting for the minimum wage, to individual casework, the Nanny Solidarity Network has supported hundreds of nannies who have been placed in unsafe working conditions because of lax policies by childcare apps.

The Nanny Solidarity Network was part of Breakthrough’s first ever Accelerator programme in 2023. We supported them to put pressure on one of the largest childcare apps, Bubble, to provide better pay and conditions for childcare workers on their app.

It’s very empowering to have people like Breakthrough on your side, supporting you and advising you, but letting you lead the way.
