UK ministers announce plans to stop bosses using NDAs to silence abused workers

Huge success after years of campaigning by Zelda Perkins

Today the Government announced sweeping measures that will prohibit bosses from using NDAs to silence abused employees. It comes about a long campaign by Zelda Perkins, Can’t Buy My Silence.

Breakthrough has been backing Zelda’s campaigning for over three years, from petitions to protests to Parliament engagement to media. Today her campaigning has finally led to change.

Celebrating the news Zelda told the Guardian (opens in a new tab):

This is huge. It’s the beginning of abusers having to change their behaviour – not because somebody’s wagging a finger at them, not because they are told to, but because they have to. There’s nowhere for them to hide any more, they just have to effing behave themselves.

Now the proposed changes will go to consultation. Visit Can’t By My Silence to keep up-to-date with when the consultation opens and how to take part.
