3 ways digital platforms can help you make change

Looking to start a new campaign or take the next step? Here are 3 reasons you should make sure digital is at the top of your priority list.

1. You need to meet people where they are at, and right now that's online - Historically, groups like the Suffragettes took action and tried to get coverage in newspapers to influence and make change. But the way to effectively campaign has changed, and now audiences are online.

6 billion people globally are online, and 98% of the UK use social media.

Recently movements like the School Climate Strikes, have been making meaningful change using their online presence.

So now’s your time to get mobilising online too.

2. Digital is great for accessible messages - haring your direct experience stories online can be the best way to authentically connect with people who care about cause and persuade others why it matters.

Could you film a first-hand account of yourself? Could you share quotes from people who are being impacted by the issue behind your campaign?

Spend an hour on a social media post and test it with your online audience.

3. Disinformation is rife online, so we need real people to share what’s really going on in their communities - Your online content will not only serve as support for your campaign but, more broadly, as a means of changing minds and countering divisive and fake news online.

We need to all work together as campaigners making people-powered change for good, by making sure the online space is full of real-life stories, evidence-based educational tools and hopeful campaigns to get behind.
